A timesheet you can hand in, not a spreadsheet you have to build
Put the start and finish times in for the days that were worked, leave the rest blank, and the week totals itself. The output is a one page PDF with your own logo on it and ruled lines for the operative and the supervisor to sign, because a timesheet is a document that gets checked and signed rather than a number in a browser.
Night shifts total properly
A shift from 22:00 to 06:00 is eight hours. Subtract one clock time from the other and you get minus sixteen, which is why hand-built spreadsheets quietly go wrong for anyone on nights. When a finish time is at or before the start, this treats the shift as running into the next day and marks it with a +1 on both the screen and the printed sheet, so the person checking it can see what was assumed.
Decimal hours, because payroll does not take minutes
Every total appears twice: once as hours and minutes for a human, and once as a decimal for whatever payroll system it is going into. Seven hours thirty eight minutes is 7.63 and not 7.38, and typing the clock reading into a payroll box is one of the most common ways people underpay themselves without noticing.
Breaks come off only if they are unpaid
The break column is the unpaid break. Plenty of trades are paid through their break and plenty are not, so this asks rather than assuming, and it shows the on-site time and the paid time separately so both are visible on the document.
The Working Time Regulations checks
Alongside the pay arithmetic, the tool flags two things from the Working Time Regulations 1998, because a timesheet is often the only place they would show up.
- Rest breaks. A worker is entitled to an uninterrupted break of at least twenty minutes when the working day is longer than six hours.
- Daily rest. There should be eleven consecutive hours of rest between finishing one day and starting the next. A late finish followed by an early start is the usual way this gets breached, and it is easy to miss when the two days are separate rows.
These appear as a note rather than an error. They are compliance points for the employer, not arithmetic mistakes, and the hours are still the hours. Weekly working time is separately capped at an average of 48 hours over a 17 week reference period unless the worker has opted out, which is a longer window than one sheet covers.
Your logo on it
Set your company details and logo once under your branding and every document generated here carries them. It is stored in your own browser and never uploaded, because there is no account and nowhere to upload it to.
A timesheet is a list of who worked where
Names, job references, hours and rates are held on the page and discarded when you close the tab. The PDF is assembled on your device and saved straight to it, so no copy exists anywhere else.
Common questions
Does the timesheet come out as a document I can actually hand in?
Yes. The output is a one page PDF with your own logo on it and ruled lines for the operative and the supervisor to sign, rather than just a number displayed in the browser.
How does the timesheet handle a night shift that crosses midnight?
A shift from 22:00 to 06:00 is eight hours, but subtracting one clock time from the other gives minus sixteen. When a finish time is at or before the start time, the tool treats the shift as running into the next day and marks it with a +1 on both the screen and the printed sheet.
Why does every total show twice, once as hours and minutes and once as a decimal?
Because payroll systems take hours as a decimal rather than minutes, and seven hours thirty eight minutes is 7.63, not 7.38. Showing both means you can read the human version and copy the decimal one straight into whatever payroll system you use.
Does the timesheet automatically deduct a lunch break?
Only if you mark it as unpaid. Plenty of trades are paid through their break and plenty are not, so the tool asks rather than assuming, and it shows the on-site time and the paid time separately so both are visible on the document.
What do the Working Time Regulations notes on the timesheet mean?
They flag two things from the Working Time Regulations 1998: whether a rest break of at least twenty minutes was taken on a working day longer than six hours, and whether there were eleven consecutive hours of rest between one day and the next. These appear as notes rather than errors, since they are compliance points for the employer rather than arithmetic mistakes.
Can I put my own company logo on the timesheet?
Yes. Set your company details and logo once under your branding and every document generated on the site carries them. It is stored in your own browser rather than uploaded anywhere, since there is no account and nowhere to upload it to.
